Bevan & Buckland is one of South Wales' major accountancy
firms, employing 60 staff between 5 offices. The practice installed
IRIS Software three years ago.

The main purpose behind
the decision, explained Tax Partner Huw Evans, was to create a
single integrated database; a factor viewed by the 8 partners as,
'a firm foundation on which the firm could build'. Huw continues
"Previously, we had four databases which resulted in considerable
inaccuracies. Now, we know that all information is held in one
place, the advantages of which have been shown time and time
again."

Whilst Huw
considers that the most important benefit from IRIS Software is the
database, one feature in particular has brought the firm
considerable tangible benefits. The standard letters, especially in
the IRIS tax products, have saved the firm many man hours.
Huw went on "IRIS has certainly produced savings. We used to
employ five support staff but through natural wastage, now only
employ three.
There was no need to replace them." When the partners originally
considered the business case for installing IRIS, they were
presented with projections that showed that the new system would
pay for itself within a four-year time scale.
Huw estimates that this has actually been achieved in three
years instead of the anticipated four. The IRIS system was
installed simultaneously with an ADSL system which allows the
remote offices fast access to the full suite of accountancy
software and all of the information held by the database via an
IRIS Datacentre.
